Chief Scout congratulates Halesworth volunteers.A Suffolk Scout Group has been recognised for encouraging young people to try, see and do more. The 1st Halesworth Scout Group (children aged 6 to 14) has over the last one hundred years provided young people with the chance to ‘’dream big, find their place, make memories and friends that will last a lifetime’’.The Scout Group has been acknowledged for its efforts to motivate young people to go beyond their comfort zones. It offers a range of activities, from abseiling and coding to drama and water zorbing, helping youngsters discover their talents and interests.Demand from young people is high and currently their Beavers (6-8 years), Cubs (8-10 years) and Scouts (10-14 years) are full, and they are exploring an opportunity to open new provision for teenagers (14-17 years) if new adult volunteers get involved and join in the fun.You are invited to an activity morning to meet the team, take part in the activities and find out their plans for 2025.When: Saturday 22nd FebruaryWhat time: 10.00 – 12.30Where: 1st Halesworth Scout Headquarters, Chediston Street, Halesworth IP19 8BJTo find out more contact Matt [email protected]Dwayne Fields, who replaced Bear Grylls as Chief Scout in September said ‘’I’m incredibly pleased that the 1st Halesworth Scout Group continue to deliver a high-quality programme. This means more young people in the local community are making friends, building their confidence, and gaining skills that will prepare them for life and work. It’s vital our young people get the encouragement and support they deserve to help them find their place in the world and become the active citizens of the future. When I was young, as quite a shy kid, I remember walking into my local Scout meeting place and getting such a warm welcome. I found people who believed in me, and that helped me believe in myself. This set me a path to adventure – taking me to Antarctica, the Galapagos Islands and even the North Pole. What made the difference were inspirational volunteers who became role models for me. I’ll also never forget the kindness and friendship of the other Scouts.I’m so pleased that young people in Suffolk are getting the same chance I did – to discover their talents and find their place in the world.A massive thank you to everyone at 1st Halesworth Scout Group. You’re making all the difference to young lives and bringing people together. Well done to you all’’The 1st Halesworth Scout Group are looking for adult volunteers to join the team, put their skills to good use, learn new ones and be part of the local community. They are a friendly welcoming team and volunteering with the Scouts is flexible and whatever time you can give they will find a role for you.In a recent survey revealed that 94% of Scouts said they have developed useful skills through their involvement, while 88% said they’ve tried activities they haven’t tried before.
